Piece description from the artist
A pen and ink drawing of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Massachusetts, with the statue "Appeal To The Great Spirit" out front. This drawing was originally done on commission for my late brother, who asked me if I would draw the cover of his poetry booked called "Museum." Since the MFA was one of the museums with a poem written about it, the choice for me was easy. Hard not to love this building, with is majestic columns and grand front entryway. There is currently some controversy regarding the statue out front, as to whether it portrays Native Americans in the appropriate manner, but that is for others to decide, and for me simply to draw. And yes, intentionally gave the horse a slight smirk with its mouth. Enjoy the art!
Conor Plunkett has lived in the greater Boston area for almost 50 years. His appreciation of the cityscapes, parks, sky lines, and local architecture has led him to focus his creative efforts on capturing them in pen and ink drawings. Conor's 'Boston Scenes' gallery continues to expand every month as he peruses Boston and Cambridge seeking new and interesting subjects to draw.
